וַיְהִי֙ הֲנָקֵ֣ל לֶכְתּ֔וֹ בְּחַטֹּ֖אות יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֑ט וַיִּקַּ֨ח אִשָּׁ֜ה אֶת־אִיזֶ֗בֶל בַּת־אֶתְבַּ֙עַל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ צִידֹנִ֔ים וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לֽוֹ׃
E avvenne, come se fosse stato una cosa leggera per lui camminare nei peccati di Geroboamo, figlio di Nebat, che prese in moglie Izebel, figlia di Etbaal, re degli Zidoni, e andò a servire Baal, e lo adorava.

And worshiped the [idol] Baal. In addition to Yerovom’s calves.5The Gemara in Maseches Sanhedrin 102b states that Achov’s minor sins were like Yerovom’s major ones. If so, why are Yerovom’s sins emphasized here? Because he opened the way to sin for the Bnei Yisroel.
